Surfside Kids Parent Info

When it comes to caring for children, we believe it's very important to provide a safe learning environment. We screen all volunteers and have an advanced check-in/check-out system. Newborns through two years of age head to our nursery where lots of clean toys and personal attention await. This is a well-baby nursery; we accept only children who will not expose others to sickness.

What to bring:

  • Two disposable diapers
  • Pacifier or similar comfort item
  • Complete change of clothes...just in case
  • Bottle of milk, formula, juice, or water
  • Please label all personal items with your child's first and last name
  • The infant nursery does stock plain Cheerios for those who are ready for it. The toddler room has Goldfish or Animal crackers, and will be supplied to kids unless stated otherwise. We offer open 5 oz. cups of water to drink. Please tell a volunteer if there are any food or drink allergies, or any other concerns.

Well-child Guidelines:

We love having your children with us, but we want to keep all our kids healthy; so please note that we cannot accept any child who has any of the following conditions:

  • Fever
  • Vomiting or Diarrhea (even associated with teething and medication)
  • Any symptoms of scarlet fever, German measles, mumps, chicken pox, cough, strep throat, flu, etc.
  • Common Cold (from onset through one week)
  • Sore Throat
  • Croup
  • Fifth Disease
  • Any unexplained rash
  • Pink eye or other infections (The child must be on medication for 24 hours and not exhibiting any symptoms before entering Surfside Kids.)
  • Cloudy or green runny noses or persistent cough

What to do:

If it's your first time, please arrive 10-15 minutes early to get your child checked in and ready for fun!

Check In: When you first come in, go to the Surfside Kids Welcome Center, which is located in the nook between the two hallway entrances to Surfside Kids. You will be asked to fill out a brief registration form. You will then receive two stickers, one of which you will place on your child’s back and the other you will keep with you. This sticker is necessary to pick up your child later, so keep it safe! A Host team member will then escort you and your child to the appropriate classroom, based on age and developmental stage. Please have all bags and clothing labeled. Teachers will be ready to accept children into the room 15 minutes prior to the start of service. Be sure to let us know if your child has any allergy concerns we should be aware of. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

1. Register your child(ren) at the Surfside Kids Welcome Center.
2. You'll receive a two-part nametag - one for your child and one for you to present to the childcare provider/classroom coach to pick up your child(ren). Allergies can be printed on the nametag.
3. Nursery, toddler and two’s parents will be provided a pager so we can contact you if needed.  If you have an older child and you feel a pager is necessary, please let a Host team member know.
4. Children in Pre-K 3 through 5th grade are taken to their age-appropriate classroom...where the fun begins!  We look forward to meeting you this weekend! Have questions? Feel free to call 727.726.0202
