You’re reading this because you either have a new little one in your home, or you’ve recently discovered that this is an important event that you and your family want to experience. We celebrate with you! Baby Dedication is really more of a “Parent” dedication. In essence, you’re acknowledging that you, as parents, want to lead your child(ren) into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no one on the planet who has more influence over your child than you do! As a church, we are here to be your biggest supporter, your best encourager, and your guiding partner as you begin or amend this journey you’re on. “Dedication Sunday” happens yearly at Harborside, on Mother’s Day. Beyond the event, it’s an opportunity to think about the future as you look ahead to who your child will become in one, two, ten years. It’s a chance to “imagine the end” and purpose how you’ll get there. Find out how it works and what you should know.

Baby Dedication begins with signing up for both the event and a pre-dedication class.

Take the pre-dedication parents' class. It’s designed to help you understand the “why” behind the dedication, what your role is as a parent, and where the church fits in. This pre-dedication class is offered during the 10:45 service in advance of “Dedication Sunday.” You have two opportunities to take the class:

You Should Know

Baby Dedication is not infant baptism. The Bible speaks of baptism as an event that occurs after an individual, able to understand the sacrifice of Jesus, the sinfulness of man, and the need for a savior, professes faith in Jesus. Baby Dedication is a time when you understand and commit to leading your child in her own journey toward making this decision for herself, when she is ready.
