Sneak Peek Sunday is this weekend! Pre-K will preview Kindergarten (both services,) 3rd grade will preview Fusion (both,) and 5th grade will preview Middle School (9:00 am only). Parent Meetings are happening after 2nd service for both Middle School and Fusion. Parents of incoming Middle School kids will meet in the Attic and parents of incoming 4th or 5th graders will meet in room 222. Last November, Surfside Kids partnered with Samaritan's Purse and Operation Christmas Child to pack over 300 shoeboxes for kids all over the world. Boxes went everywhere from Lebanon to the Philippines. A special report was issued to share some feedback on what a difference a small gesture can make. We had a great time with Walk Thru the Bible this past Sunday. During the 9:00 and 10:45 am services, your kindergarten - 5th grader learned the signs for Genesis as well as hearing a cool story from Joshua. Secret Keeper Girl Live: The Pajama Party Tour is coming to Countryside Christian Center in Clearwater on February 25 @ 6:30 pm. This event is especially for girls, ages 8-12, and their moms and discusses practical modesty, fashion, and beauty truth. Please identify yourself and your child/grandchild's name in the email. Privacy of our kids is an important priority. All orders must be placed prior to February 26, and will be available for pick-up on March 4 at the SSK Welcome Center desk.
In SSK, we endeavor to equip parents to spiritually teach their children. Each week, we send home a snapshot of what we talked about that morning along with ideas for how you can incorporate those "basic truths" and "bottom lines" throughout the week.
For you smartphone users with elementary-aged kids, check out the Parent Cue app available in your Android or iPhone app store. Or check out www.studio252.tv. Your kids can watch the Bible story from the previous Sunday, play games, and more. Plus, there are multiple "cues" for parents on how to work in the monthly virtue (the very nature and character of God) at dinner, in the car, or when hanging out. Our pre-K 3s - 5th graders will begin the Christmas services on December 18 by singing a few songs. Parents, please help us by playing the practice CD (available at the SSK Kiosk just inside the SSK west entrance) in your cars and at home. And please bring your child to the dress rehearsals on Thursdays, December 8 & 15 from 6:30-7:30pm. Parents, plan to stay and assist with our practice sessions...please, no drop-offs. we began a new month of exploring the nature and character of God in SSK. I, personally, have 2 kids in the elementary side of the program; therefore, our new character trait or "virtue" of the month is Creativity: using your imagination to do something unique. As a leader, my heart and desire is for kids and parents to take Sunday morning home with them. To "continue the conversation" we began that morning throughout the week. As a parent, I have an awareness that God has given me and my husband the primary responsibility for passing faith on to our kids. As a person who works a lot, my goal on Sundays is to have a Sabbath. You can imagine how those collided yesterday when my kids announced they wanted to paint! At first, I went right to persona #3 - it's messy, time-consuming, mommy wants to rest... then my older son said, "Mom, I want to be creative, like God was when He created the world." [And so it hit me...This is the stuff we talk about every Sunday... about having choices to make and how God will help us make the wise choice when we decide to do so. Thank you, Holy Spirit!] So, out came the smocks, paint, brushes, paper, and, 12 masterpieces later, I know I made a wise choice. Besides, I had them help me with clean up! Who says it has to be hard? The bigger question is, what are you doing to encourage your child's faith?

What's happening now? I'm trying to find a decent cup of coffee. But that's probably not what you're really asking. So... let's look at the calendar of events, shall we? We have some fun things planned outside of Sunday mornings, beginning with a well-deserved appreciation event for our volunteers. Help us thank them by offering to sub for them whenever they need to be out of town or take a break. Just share your contact information with them on a Sunday when you're picking up your kids and let them know you can be called upon to sub when needed. If you've been thinking it may be time to get plugged in somewhere more consistently, we have a spot for you!
